Rock star Dan Reed coming to Kendal

A FUNKY rock genius who is on a mission to transform humanity is heading to Kendal for a spellbinding gig.

Dan Reed, who requires no introduction after his explosive career which has secured him in lots of people's top ten all time favourite singers, is poised to rock Bootlegger's stage during a rare show.

Best known in the 1980s for a series of hits he performed with Network including Stronger than Steel, Rainbow child, Tiger in a Dress- which are all tracks that tailor synthesizers, scratchy vocals and heavy guitars into empowering energising hits.

Mr Reed's more recent songs jump genres to a slower melody and lyrics that move the soul.

Throughout his time in the limelight it is not only Dan's style of music which has drastically changed but also his philosophy.

Following a eye opening gig with he Rolling Stones in Berlin when the iron wall came down Dan broke up Network and spent time travelling the world on a spiritual journey.

"The Heat was quite a reflective album," said Dan."I'm working on my new album, Signal Fire, now which will hopefully be out this Fall."

He said he hoped his music would make people think about the important political and social issues effecting the world.

"When I play with my band we normally have a more physical effect of the crowd," said Dan. "Whereas when I do my solo stuff like on this tour, I take on more of a storyteller role."

If any revellers are moved by his music then he said he that for him is the benchmark of a good musician.

"I've been to Kendal before it's a beautiful part of the country," said Dan. "I haven't heard of this Kendal mint cake but I'll definitely try some next time I'm there."

Before getting on stage Dan likes to have a cappuccino and explore the towns he is playing in to gain a better idea of the people he is singing to.

Anyone wishing to be part of Dan's crowd should head to Bootleggers on February 8.
