Review: The Wedding Present - Valentina
WHAT can one say about The Wedding Present that their late, great fan John Peel hasn’t already said before me?
Peel rightly proclaimed that band leader David Gedge had written ‘some of the best love songs of the rock’n’roll era’, and Gedge certainly continues to prove the legendary DJ right on this new album.
And though nothing on Valentina quite reaches the heights of their outstanding 1989 hit Kennedy, this is still top quality post-punk guitar pop which will rock your socks off.
