Twisted Wheel to start the new year at the Brewery

Formed in 2007 in Saddleworth, they exploded onto the music scene in 2008 with their acclaimed debut single ‘She’s A Weapon’.
 

The mod rock quartet immediately made a fan of Liam Gallagher - who described their gritty, rowdy, old-school rock sound as a ‘breath of fresh air’ - leading Oasis to book them as one of the support acts for their 2009 Heaton park concerts.
 

Another high-profile supporter is the Modfather himself Paul Weller, who invited them on his 2009 Summer Forest tour after seeing them play at London’s 100 club, as well as offering them the free use of his studio for their recordings.
 

Their sound is a blend of 70s punk and mod/rock’n’roll from the 50s and 60s, with The Kinks, Sex Pistols, Chuck Berry, Slade ad The Beatles cited as among their ‘thousands of influences’.
 

The foursome were signed to Columbia in 2008 and released their eponymous debut album the next year, before spending several years on the road, growing their fan base but receiving no major radio play.
 

The eventual follow-up to ‘Twisted Wheel’, ‘Do It Again’ was released in 2012, and well-received performances at Reading and Leeds Festivals this year enhanced their reputation for blistering, sweat-soaked live shows.
 

Six years on from their formation, frontman Jonny Brown is the one remaining member of the original line-up, with 2013 seeing a complete change of personnel within the band.
 

With Jonny still on vocals and guitar, Max Lees – brother of original member Rick – has taken on bass duties, Keith Moon-alike Blair Murray is now on the drum stool and Adam Birchall supplies additional guitar.
 

Support on the night will come from self-proclaimed ‘punchy poetic peasants’ 12 Dirty Bullets, a West London band creating a buzz on both sides of the Atlantic.
 

The hard-working four-piece hold down day jobs as well as writing, producing and mixing all their own music.
