LOCAL MPs are calling for musicians to enter the House of Commons ‘Rock the House’Competition.
 

Founded by Mike Weatherley MP, Intellectual Property Advisor to the Prime Minister, the competition gives creative minds the chance to have their work judged by leading lights in the industry and win prizes ranging from festival slots to studio time and equipment.
 

The competition is designed to raise awareness about protecting Intellectual Property and the importance of live music.
 

Categories include best solo act under 19, best solo act, best music video, best band under 19, best band and best small venue.
 

Westmorland and Lonsdale MP Tim Farron said: “The prizes and judges get better every year and I would be delighted to support and promote any acts from our area in the 2014 competition.”
 

Morecambe & Lunesdale MP David Morris is also calling for acts from his constituency to sign up, saying, “Rock The House is an ideal opportunity for up and coming talent to play in front of music industry executives.”
 

The deadline for applicants is March 31, and the winners will perform in the House of Commons on July 1.
