YEWFIELD Classical Music Festival runs next Saturday and Sunday, July 12/13.
Staged at the exquisite Yewfield Vegetarian Guest House at Hawkshead Hill, Ambleside, Yewfield owner and music lover Derek Hook says that after the fantastic response to last year’s festival, they are hosting another “feast of classical music, with some of the UK’s finest players.”
Taking part will be Paul Janes, piano; Rosa Campos Fernandez, clarinet; violinists Sarah Brandwood Spencer and Catherine Yates; viola players, David Aspin and Tom Beer; and cellist, Simon Turner.
Saturday’s programme starts at 6pm and features Turina’s La Oracion del Torero (The Bullfighter's Prayer) for string quartet, Guinovart Fantasia on Goyescas by Granados for clarinet and piano, Brahms Piano Quintet, and works by Anton Eberl and Max Bruch.
Sunday (6pm) includes Mozart’s Clarinet Quintet, Schubert’s Impromptus for piano, the Mendelssohn Viola Quintet in Bb and the Prokofiev Overture on Hebrew themes for clarinet, string quartet and piano.
