LANCASTER Music Festival is creating its own ‘unofficial Bank Holiday’ for this year’s event with the mantra ‘Take Monday Off’.

Festival coordinator Ben Ruth said, “Last year we warned all those involved in the festival production to take Monday off, only to realise a lot of festivalgoers did the same.

“That led to the realisation that we could create our own long weekend in Lancaster simply by announcing it.”

The weekend will feature around 200 local and global acts performing at more than 40 city centre and University venues from October 9-13.

MORE TOP STORIES:

Music will range from folk, jazz, blues, soul, funk, grunge, punk, pop to classical, avant garde and even bicycle powered music on the back of a beer dray.

Most of the music will be provided by acts that perform in the Lancaster district, including Get Carter Experience, singer-songwriter loop sensation Alex Hulme, beatboxer Nathan Loopz, reggae explosion Jeremy Ferrari and award winning Latin guitarist Howard Haigh.

The full calendar of events will be available after August 31 - for details see www.lancastermusicfestival.com.
