THE great British composer, Ralph Vaughan Williams, will be celebrated in an upcoming concert by the Furness Bach Choir.

Under its musical director, Anthony Milledge, with an orchestra mainly made up of local players, the choir will cover a variety of Vaughan Williams' work, including arrangements of folk songs, unaccompanied choral pieces and works with orchestral accompaniment, as well as two compositions for orchestra alone.

Pieces to be performed will include Toward the Unknown Region, The Wasps, The Turtle Dove and The Lark Ascending, voted the nation's most popular work over several years.

The concert will be held on November 15 at St James's Church, Blake Street, Barrow, at 7.30 pm.
