LANCASHIRE musician Chris Bannister has announced two Cumbrian dates this winter for his tribute show to John Denver.
Chris started performing his show, the ‘Music of John Denver’, five years ago in the Lake District, explaining that, “I've always loved The Lake district and it seems that John Denver's music resonates with the landscape somehow.”
He has just returned from Aspen, Colorado where he has performed for the last three years at the annual celebration of John Denver’s life.
Chris also performed with Steve Weisberg, Denver’s former guitar player who recently passed away. Steve left Chris his guitar in his will - a sign of how strong their friendship had become.
This year he also played at the first John Denver Festival at the Wheeler Opera House where he was joined on stage by tribute artists from all over the world and was asked to accompany Cassandra Denver (John’s second wife) when she sang the hit song ‘Country Girl in Paris’.
Chris’s two upcoming shows in the area are at Appleby Public Hall on November 22 and St Bees Old College Hall on November 28.
