ONE of the leading European string quartets brings the 71st Kendal Midday Concert Club season to a wonderful conclusion next week.

The Cavaleri Quartet takes to the town hall stage on Wednesday, March 18, performing string quartets by Haydn and Schubert.

Since its formation in 2008, the foursome has gained a reputation as one of the leading European string quartets. They won first prize at the Hamburg International Chamber Music Competition as well as the Brahms Society Prize and the Mendelssohn Prize from the Oscar and Vera Ritterman Foundation.

Each player is an alumnus of the Royal College of Music, first coming to prominence as a quartet in the UK in 2011, following their débuts at the Purcell Room in 2008 (as Park Lane Group Young Artists) and the Wigmore Hall in 2010. The players have been coached by members of the Berg, Brodsky, Chilingirian, Medici and Endellion quartets, have performed at all the major London concert venues, and have broadcast live on BBC Radio 3, Radio Clásica, Spain, NDR Kultur and SWR Radio, Germany.
