DYNAMIC trio The John Langan Band are playing at the Upfront Theatre, near Penrith, on May 14.
The band’s sound is rooted in Celtic Folk but encompasses Balkan, Roma, Gypsy Swing and Flamenco.
They met in Glasgow and have been playing together for seven years. Their performances are high energy and musically extravagant, as they take traditional acoustic idioms and deliver them with a punk abandonment and virtuosic flare.
Having played over 100 gigs in the past year alone, the band have now established themselves across the UK as being one of the best live Folk bands around.
Local support will come from Scrogan's Run which features well known Cumbrian musicians Paddy Rogan and Wayne Scurrah (Indian Postal Service and Handbrake Shirley).
