LANCASTER Music Festival has collaborated with Chas Ambler’s Melodrome Stage and Lancaster Castle to produce a series of summer music concerts in the Castle’s historic courtyard - the first in its 1,000 year history.

The events take place every weekend until August 23, and the music program will feature mainly local artists covering acoustic, jazz, folk, pop and soul.

Lancaster Castle is perhaps best known for its historic role as a prison and its role in the trial and execution of the Pendle Witches.

However, since 2013 the Castle has been open to the public and has started to put on events culminating last year in the main stage location for the 2014 Lancaster Music Festival.

Lancaster Music Festival’s coordinator Ben Ruth said: “When the Melodrome crew and Lancaster Music Festival go together to hash out the details on how we were going to produce this event it turned out we pretty much had exactly the same notion of how to go ahead.

“I’m really excited about this event. The Melodrome is the perfect stage for this location and the acts we’ve both been able to source cover a wide array of summery sounds.
