COMMUNITY music charity More Music starts its new term of music sessions and gigs this month, with music making opportunities and bands booked to play at their venue The Hothouse in Morecambe.

Sessions include classes for guitar, ukulele, folk, jazz, singers, young bands and rappers, Chinese music and carnival drumming, plus music making for under 5s and adults with disabilities.

Gig highlights include Independents Day on January 30 - a live music indie all-dayer as part of Independent Venue Week with bands playing on the day including Maia, Haiku Salut and Louis Barabbas.

The Wierdstring Band play the Hothouse Ceilidh on February 6, returning for a third time after two fantastic crowd-pleasing gigs. They mix traditional and modern tunes with their own Cumbrian inspired fun and frolics.

Internationally acclaimed poet and writer Lemn Sissay will be sharing his writing on March 12 as part of an inspirational evening of poetry and performance.
