THE preliminary round of the 'rebranded' Keldwyth Cumbrian Young Musician Award will be held at Kendal Town Hall on Monday, July 4, between 10am-4pm. The finals take place at Grange-over-Sands' Victoria Hall at on Friday, September 2 (7.30pm). The winner receives a cheque for £1,000 and the Reg Griffiths Trophy. The award was created by the Keldwyth Singers, a Lake District choir founded in 1973 by the highly respected conductor late Reg Griffiths. Last year's winner was 22-year old Carlisle soprano Myrna Tennant.
