ONE of the hottest acts on the roots music circuit are touring the UK this October, and will play the Brewery.

The Stray Birds, from Pennsylvania, will play a string of UK dates in support of their new album 'Magic Fire', stopping off at the Brewery on October 8.

Upon the release of the album, it went straight to number one on the Billboard Bluegrass Chart, and to number nine on the Euro Americana Chart.

It was produced by three-time Grammy winner Larry Campbell, who had worked with the likes of Bob Dylan, Levon Helm, Paul Simon and Willie Nelson.

The band, now touring as a four-piece due to the addition of a percussionist, were declared one of the most outstanding acts at the 2015 Cambridge Folk Festival.

They released their self-titled debut album in 2012 to critical acclaim, and followed that up with a second record called 'Best Medicine'.

Since then they have garnered praise on both sides of the Atlantic, with BBC presenter Bob Harris a particularly vocal supporter.
