A RESPECTED songwriter is bringing her own music to the area, playing shows in Settle and Kirkby Stephen this month.

Charlie Dore, whose songs have been covered by George Harrison, Tina Turner, Celine Dion and Lisa Stansfield, among others, will play the Victoria Hall at Settle in September 23, and The Acoustic Tearoom in Kirkby Stephen on the 24.

Charlie, who will be performing with her longstanding 'honorary brother' Julian Littman, of Steeleye Span, has had a varied career including acting in film, TV & radio, writing for radio and composition for film & BBCTV and comedy improvisation.

She released her 8th album, 'Milk Roulette' in 2014 and is currently writing & recording her 9th, 'Dark Matter' and touring across the UK.

Since 2011 she has also performed with over two dozen UK choirs, who have joined her onstage to provide backing vocals for special arrangements of her songs.

Her song Strut reached No 4 for Sheena Easton in the US, while her own single Pilot of the Airwaves reached No 11. She also co-wrote the UK No 1 Ain’t No Doubt with Jimmy Nail.
