A PROLIFIC Irish guitarist will be playing a solo show in Lancaster next month.

John Doyle has made his mark on some of the most high profile folk, Celtic and bluegrass releases ever released, having worked with the likes of Joan Baez, Mary Chapin Carpenter, Eileen Ivers, Tim O’Brien and The Transatlantic Sessions.

Doyle has lent his guitar playing and songwriting skills to these musical stalwarts, and made his name as a go-to session player in the process.

Throughout his career he has remained in high demand both in the studio and on the road. He hass worked as a performer, producer and composer.

Alec Lyon, who is putting on the show, said: “The Storey is a lovely intimate venue just right for showcasing Johns talents.”

Between recording and writing with other artists, Doyle has released three solo albums since 2001.

The latest, ‘Shadow and Light’, was released in 2011 on Compass Records.

He plays the Storey Institute on May 15.
