THE Joy Singers of Venice bring a Christmas vibe to Kendal's Brewery Arts Centre on Sunday, November 26 (2pm) with a repertoire that ranges from classic to contemporary gospel and from jazz to funk and soul. Among the highly regarded Italian choir's ranks is Catherine Swain, deputy head of an international school at Mirano, near Venice. Originally from Ulverston, Catherine attended Ulverston Victoria High School and lived in the town until she left for university in Leeds. After graduating she spent many years in education before moving to Venice 14 years ago. The Joy Singers' prestigious collaborations include working with Andrea Bocelli, Kool and the Gang and Massimo Ranieri. Box office 01539-725133.
