FOUR diverse and dynamic musical outfits showcase their talents in Kendal this week.

Jazz guitarist Charlie Young, Lancaster's Rokasayers, Sam Dale and Furness musician Matt Kassell appear at The Kent Tavern on Sunday night as part of a debut showcase by music collective Introducing The Incredible.

Singer songwriter Matt Kassell said the night would give the bands a chance to try out new numbers.

"We wanted to road test some new material, to see if the line-up of acts worked because we are all very different," he explained. "We'll all play half-hour sets and it will be the same four people on the stage all night, just everybody will take it in turns to support."

The 29-year old recently cut his foreign travels short due to interest in his new album The Salesman. He said he was hoping to build on the success of the album which has been a top ten hit on an internet music site.

Also up are Rokasayers. Defining their sound as "funky, hard, bop infected Latino Anglo-Saxon Pop Jazz" the group, which bridges the gap between traditional and contemporary jazz, has received rave reviews from local and national press.

In a five star review The Guardian gushed: "They haven't merely discovered the lost chord - they've unearthed a whole cluster of them"

Solo jazz guitarist and member of Rokasayers, Colne's Charlie Young, will also be performing while Sam Dale also of Rokasayers will be playing songs from Beach Boys arrangements to hip-hop inspired instrumentals.

The show starts at 8pm on Sunday. Entry is free. For more information log on to introducingtheincredible.com
