CUMBRIA Baroque Choir has a busy autumn ahead starting with the promise of a powerful performance on Saturday, October 28 (7.30pm) at Lancaster Priory in aid of Motor Neurone Disease South Lakeland area.
Margaret Pattinson's popular ensemble stage Faure's Requiem and Britten's Rejoice in the Lamb with priory organist Ian Pattinson at the keys of the illustrious Priory instrument.
Ian recently spent a week in London playing the organs of Westminster Abbey, St Paul's Cathedral and St George's Chapel Windsor, for evensong services, a job he really enjoyed but he says, "the fine organ in Lancaster Priory takes a lot of beating."
Sopranos Alison Givens and Margaret Pattinson, alto, Lauren Osmond, tenor, Alan Noble and bass, Brian Lancaster will take the solo movements, with
the concert under the deft direction of Anna Ridding-Bennett and Jeremy Truslove, who share the podium.
As well as the wonderful Faure and Britten pieces there will be light hearted solos from Ian on the organ, plus Margaret and Brian Lancaster will sing a few favourite songs, including tunes from Gershwin and Flanders and Swann.

CBC and friends reassemble again on November 17 (7.30pm) to join with English Touring Opera when they perform JS Bach's Mass in B minor, also at Lancaster Priory. Tickets are available on 01524-594151 or from lancasterarts.org.
