LEVENS Choir stages another in its Music in Quiet Places series, returning to the lovely church of Lower Tatham, near Kirkby Lonsdale, on Sunday, February 25 (2.30pm). Under the baton of highly respected musical director Ian Jones, the music will vary from Renaissance composers such as Thomas Tallis, Tomas de Victoria, and Francisco Guerrero, to 21st Century works by Bob Chilcott and Howard Skempton. The afternoon concert also includes a 'folk' interlude from a group within the popular choir, Ad Lib (Gill Smith, Christine Wood, Joyce Tedcastle and Jan Burgess), plus instrumental music from the choir's scholars. Looking ahead, Levens Choir joins forces with the Marian Consort on March 10 for a concert of music by Thomas Tallis.
