DEEMED Britain's most adventurous orchestra, Manchester Camerata returns to The Forum at Barrow on Sunday, March 4 (7.30pm) for an evening of popular classics, featuring two of today's most eminent female musicians, Norwegian trumpet sensation, Tine Thing Helseth, and Australian born conductor, Jessica Cottis.
Tine joins the orchestra for concertos by Hummel and Haydn, both renowned for their virtuosic writing and infectious melodies. Completing the programme is Mendelssohn's Overture: The Hebrides and his Symphony No 3, Scottish.
As part of Camerata in the Community dementia research, Manchester Camerata also performs an afternoon concert (2pm) at the Forum, Mrs Maestro, a magical journey to find out all about the instruments in the orchestra. Led by bus owner Mrs Maestro - played by Ulverston actor Kerry Willison-Parry - Camerata travels to Barrow, stopping to collect musicians from the orchestra on the way. As the journey progresses, it becomes clear that Mrs Maestro is getting a bit mixed up with what she must do, but with help she can get everyone to Barrow in time for the concert. Mrs Maestro is led by composer Andrew Smith, director Paul Hine and the musicians of Manchester Camerata.
