SOUND Walks along the wild shoreline of the Furness Peninsula, led by the extremely innovative Dan Fox, are being held on Saturday, June 9 (11am and 1.30pm). A fascinating and unusual opportunity to explore the hidden world of natural sounds on land and underwater using state of the art off grid technology, every participant gets to wear a set of wireless headphones connected by Dan's radio transmitter. Those taking part get the chance to handle a hydrophone and lower it into the pools to hear what the micro marine life down there is up to. They also head with Dan into Sea Wood where, using parabolic sound dishes, people can focus on sounds from the most minute insect to ancient oak trees.

The walks start and finish opposite the Olde Mill, Bardsea on the coast road A5087, heading along the cobbled seashore first then back through the woods.

Hosted by John Fox and Sue Gill, the walks are part of their Wildernest programme on the shore below the Beach House, Baycliff.
