RACHAEL: A REMARKABLE RECORD BREAKER by Joyce Buxton, £11.95 ISBN 978-1-909461062

THIS is a wonderful account of the author’s ‘adopted’ granddaughter Rachael Moseley, a brave and inspirational girl who completed the first of her three Coast to Coast Walks from St Bees to Robin Hood’s Bay aged seven and completed her third crossing on her ninth birthday.

The book was written by Joyce Buxton, who uses the journals of Rachael and her dad, Ian to tell this epic tale.

As well as Rachael being a record breaker, over the three epic journeys, she raised an impressive £5,000 to be shared between Patterdale C of E School and The Patterdale Mountain Rescue Team.

The account is full of beautiful pictures of Rachael completing the 192 miles and you can see the young girl’s passion for the outdoors in the images and in the author’s words.

It is a truly inspiring book that will have readers wanting to put on their walking books and take on the challenge themselves.
