The Malt Room was packed for From The Jam, featuring bassist Bruce Foxton from the original band.

It was a night packed full of energy and the audience clearly loved it, with plenty of dancing and singing along to the anthemic choruses.

The band played the whole of the classic Setting Sons album, one of my personal favourites. The Jam were always pretty much in your face with their music but this is quite a subtle and thoughtful album with themes including how friends can grow apart over the years.

A lot of that subtlety was lost in this live performance, which was played at full volume.

The second half of the gig was probably easier for the casual fan to follow, with well-known numbers such as David Watts, Start! and Going Underground going down a storm. There was even room for Ghosts from The Gift album, a great song which added some light and shade.

And the encores could not be beaten - Down In The Tube Station at Midnight and A Town Called Malice.
