Top 10 Corsica and Eyewitness Travel Corsica (both Dorling Kindersley) and The Rough Guide to Corsica (Rough Guide).

Which guide book you take on Holiday tends to depend on what you hope to get out of the t rip.

All three of these guides are great in their own way.

The simplest is Top 10 Corsica, a slim volume that gives extended lists covering the top ten highlights in beautiful Corsica and with sections on the best beaches, food, walks, children' activities etc. it also inculdes a useful map of the island, which lies south of France and west of Italy.

It's good if you are planning your itinerary and trying to ensure you are going to be in the right places to see some of the best Corsica has to offer.

A step up is the Eyewitness Guide, full of pictures and highlighting in more detail the best bits of the island.

You could get by with this guide but if you want to really get to grips with Corsica, get off the beaten track or just have a deeper insight into what is on offer the Rough Guide is an excellent choice.

It does not contain many pictures but there is lots of detail about what you might see and it 's not afraid to be critical at times.

In truth if you want to get the most out of Corsica I would recommend taking all three books.
