CLASSY but relaxed is the best way to sum up the dining experience at the Coach House in Bentham.
The historic atmosphere in this public house, which dates back to the 1600s, can been seen and felt through its interior.
The dining area is tucked away at the back of the pub and boasts a dungeon-like feel with candlesticks attached to walls, stone flooring and large wooden tables.
The menus offered a range of traditional pub meals, such as fish and chips, ham, eggs and chips - mostly made with locally sourced produce.
A mix of deals is available at different times, including buying a main course and getting a starter or dessert for free, so it is worth studying the menus to avoid missing out on bargains.
For my starter I decided to try the white onion soup (£3.95), having heard raving reviews.
This was served with half a portion of large crusty baguette bread. The soup was thick and well seasoned and was brought out in a little bowl, placed on a slate board - adding to the historic feel.
My main was equally tasty as I opted for the vegetable curry (£8.95) with rice and two small sized naan breads.
There was a good selection of vegetables, carrots, cauliflower and peas, bathed in a rich spicy sauce.
I decided to round the meal off with a sticky toffee pudding served with custard - a favourite of mine.
I was quite disappointed to find the dessert had a very little toffee sauce, making the sponge pretty dry.
However there was a good amount of custard, which compensated for the lack of sauce.
