A BLAZE of colour filled Arnside Horticultural Society’s 77th show.
The annual show, on Saturday, drew scores of visitors and residents, with flowers, fruit and vegetables in the Women’s Institute Hall, while the Methodist Schoolroom hosted the crafts, cookery, arts, photography and children’s classes.
Securing the most points for exhibits throughout the day was Bill Stables, of Milnthorpe, who won firsts in ten vegetable classes, including cucumber, cherry tomato, potato, shallot and onion.
The best floral art exhibit was by Kath Crompton with her impressive display of scabiosa and gladiolus.
Society chairman Irene Bashforth said: “Although the same number of people competed as last year, entries were down due to a variety of factors – weather and rabbits included.
“It also reflects the high standards entrants set for themselves.
"Floral art classes drew more entries, creating a beautiful and colourful display.”
Show secretary Neville Jackson said there were also more children’s entries.
Prizes were presented by Sandra Gardner, the ex-Arnside postmistress.
