A GOOD standard of exhibits was achieved at the 63rd Over Kellet Horticultural Society Show despite gardens taking a battering by the weather.
The high winds and rain reduced the number of local entries, but scores of people still turned out to see quality blooms and vegetables.
Show secretary David Hasted said the displays of flowers and vegetables in the open classes were particularly admired.
He added that the children’s classes had given much pleasure.
David Woodhouse, from Roeburndale, won the award for the Best Horticultural Exhibit in the show with his trio of white dahlia blooms. Don Hack, from Bolton-le-Sands, received the RHS Banksian Medal for winning most prize money in the horticultural sections.
