GRASMERE villagers held their traditional Rushbearing ceremony yesterday.
The event, centred around St Oswald's Church, dates back to when villagers collected rushes to cover the earth floors of churches.
A procession passed through the centre of the village, with parishioners carrying traditional symbolic floral 'bearings' to the church.
