AN IMPRESSIVE array of sheep competed in Ravenstonedale's agricultural show this weekend.
There was also a good turnout for the fell races and sheepdog trials despite bad weather threatening to overshadow the festivities.
The Sampson family, on holiday in the area from Stockport, said they were delighted to have sampled the show, especially Gabrielle, 5, and Jasper, 2, who enjoyed sitting on some of the tractors.
Ravenstonedale's Bob Beaty, a previous champion in the Stick Show was back to show off his creative designs.
The 71-year-old, who has been a regular at the show from the age of four, picked up several firsts and seconds in the contest.
He said: “I always enjoy the stick show. It is nice for the locals to see them. I mostly work with Swaledale horn and a hazel shaft then my Mrs does the painting for them.”
Also enjoying the day was Pamela Staley, 29, from Forest in Teesdale who picked up a champion rosette for Suffolk ewe Evie.
“I wish I'd brought more with me now,” she said. “It's been a really good show and I'll be back next year.”
There will be a full report from Ravenstonedale in Thursday's Gazette.
