CADETS from the Royal Navy and Air Force accompanied the annual Mayor’s Sunday parade in Kendal at the weekend.

The Mayor of Kendal, Coun Sylvia Emmott, was also joined by the Boys’ Brigade, Girls’ Brigade, Kendal Division Guides and Brownies, St. John’s Ambulance and representatives from local secondary schools.

Dignitaries from neighbouring towns in Cumbria were there for the event, including the High Sheriff Diana Matthews, Chair of Cumbria County Council, Brigadier Rafferty from the Duke of Lancaster’s Regiment and the Mayors of Allerdale, Barrow, Dalton and Ulverston.

The parade started from Kendal Town Hall and proceeded down Highgate and Kirkland to Kendal Parish Church.

The church was full for a special service which included a version of “Stand By Me” by Man’s Band.

Coun Emmott said: “I would like to thank all the leaders and the young people for taking part.

“I hope everyone enjoyed the service and who took part did themselves proud.

“Kendal Parish Church is a very important part of our community and I was pleased to see it so full for the service.”
