ARNSIDE Horticultural Society members, supporters, visitors and friends enjoyed a bumper show amongst the flowers, vegetables, handicrafts and tempting cakes.

The numbers of exhibitors and entries exceeded those in 2012 and the standard and quality of the produce and work were ‘excellent’ standard.

The flowers were as colourful as ever with the cup for the most points going to D Fishwick & D Carr.

Dahlia entries were also of a high standard and a number of new exhibitors were welcomed to this class. The cup for the most points in all the dahlia classes was awarded to Mr J Gott. The prize for the most points in all of the vegetable classes was awarded jointly to William Gott and Bill Stables.

Mrs K Crompton picked up the trophy for the best floral art exhibit.

The standard of bakery and cooking was again said to be ‘exemplary’ with the most points in cookery going to Dianne Mycock.

Handcraft exhibits were many and varied and to a high standard.

Most points overall in this section were awarded to Janet Allen. The best art exhibit was provided by Val Hebblethwaite.

There were a stunning number of entries in the photography section with the best exhibit from Mr P Last.
