A SOUTH Lakeland amateur dramatic group is gearing up to mark the centenary of the start of World War One.

The Burneside Amateur Theatrical Society is now in the throes of rehearsing for The Accrington Pals, set at the start of the war, which will be staged at The Bryce Institute between May 29 and 31.

Set in the Lancashire mill town, the play depicts both the experiences of the men at the front, who were sent to their deaths, and the women who were left behind.

Tickets will cost £9. For more information contact the box office on 07792-777 213 or visit www.batsburneside.co.uk
