FOLLOWING a sell-out run in May, Burneside Amateur Theatrical Society is putting on more performances of The Accrington Pals.
Due to demand, BATS’ strong cast returns to Peter Whelan’s powerful and poignant play for two nights at the Bryce in Burneside on Thursday and Friday, September 4/5 (7.30pm).
Set in the early years of the First World War, as the country’s jingoistic optimism starts to wane and the true terror of warfare gradually becomes clear, the play depicts both the experiences of the men at the front and the women who were left behind in a Lancashire mill town to face social changes, deprivation and the lies of propaganda.
