THIS year's Cumbria Drama Festival is staged once again at the Victoria Hall, Grange-over-Sands, with two promising one-act plays billed. Gosforth Amateur Dramatic Society opens proceedings on Saturday, March 19 (6.30pm) with Nemesis, a macabre comedy by local writer Peter Wilson, followed by Barrow-based Cumbria Amateur Theatre Society performing James Saunders' dark comedy, Alas, Poor Fred. Adjudicator will be former Liverpool Echo arts editor, Joe Riley. The winning group will go on to the northern semi-final of the All England Theatre Festival at Port Sunlight. Tickets at the door.
