KENDAL Yarns is shaping up to be one of the most innovative and imagination pieces of theatrical entertainment ever staged in this area. A huge and exciting undertaking put together by Kendal Community Theatre, the groundbreaking festival features a staggering 58, new 15-minute plays penned by writers of all ages and performed in a host of yards and venues across Kendal. Running from Monday to Saturday, July 25-30, the long list of directors involved includes some of the region's best such as Tricia Gordon, Hilary Pezet, Anne Pierson, Fliss Pocock, Louise Ingham, Kevin Dyer and Gordon Lawson. KCT's artistic director Chris Taylor will also be in the director's chair as will experienced dramatist and writer Zosia Wand.

The festival concludes on Saturday, July 30, with Gala Day, with each one of the plays performed again (all in one day) with a rolling programme of strolling players throughout the town in the morning (from 10am) with ticketed performances in Kendal Town Hall at 2.30pm and 7.30pm.

Staged alongside the plays, from July 28-30, will be the Yarns in the Yards Art Display, a series of exciting and contemporary visual arts installations, tucked away in Kendal’s myriad of historical yards; another mammoth project pulled together by the Brewery Arts Centre's highly thought of visual arts development officer, George Grange.

A festival information point will be open during festival week from 10am-8pm at Kendal Town Hall. Further information is available at http://www.kendalcommunitytheatre.org.
