THE relationship between two of Britain’s most iconic female figures is put centre stage in a hit comedy playing Theatre by the Lake.

Handbagged - which runs at the Keswick theatre until November 3 - is written by Moira Buffini, and imagines the weekly conversations between Margaret Thatcher and the Queen, speculating on what really happened behind closed palace doors when two of the most powerful women in the world clashed.

Funny, insightful and brilliantly sharp, the play was nominated for an Olivier Award for Best New Comedy in 2015.
