Queen Elizabeth School plays its part in arts festival

THE talented students of Queen Elizabeth School showcase their acting and music skills next week as part of the Kirkby Lonsdale Arts Festival.

First on the QES bill is a performance of Edward Albee’s The Zoo Story on Monday (June 15) – a darkly revealing and disturbing play performed by Paul Burch and Alistair McPhail.

On Tuesday and Friday (June 16/19) its the turn of Time of Revolution – a musical theatre production set in October 1917, which explores the last few months in the lives of the Tsar of Russia’s four daughters.

Meanwhile, another cracking production promises to be on Thursday (June 18) and Summer With Monica - a multimedia collaboration, featuring the great Roger McGough’s epic poem narrated by actor Richard Ellis; with Andy Scott and Dave Hassell improvising saxophone and percussion and Gary Abbott back-projecting Warhol-style images.

The performance takes the audience on a journey from passion to paranoia in a spellbinding experience.

All performances will be at the Kirkby Lonsdale school, starting at 7.30pm.
