Grasmere Players in comedy mode with Arsenic and Old Lace
9:00am Wednesday 6th June 2012 in Stage
By Adrian Mullen, Arts correspondent
GRASMERE Players stage Arsenic and Old Lace as their much-awaited summer production.
Running on Wednesdays and Thursdays at Grasmere Hall until July 12 (8pm), Joseph Kesselring’s play is one of the great modern comedies, made famous by the film starring Cary Grant and Boris Karloff. Two old dears (played by the Players’ Christine Wright and Vivienne Rees) for the best of reasons, lure old men into their home, poison them and bury them in the cellar. A well-written comedy with a strong love interest and some delightful characters, tickets for the show are available from Barney's Newsbox on 015394-35627 (shop hours only) or at the door.
