Grange Amateur Dramatic Society in fine form

When We Are Married

Victoria Hall, Grange-over-Sands

Grange Amateur Dramatic Society’s production of J B Priestley`s play provided a number of debut performances - and the audience wasn't disappointed. There is much to be said for the producer, Sandra Williams, who guided younger members of cast through to steady and worthy performances by all of the four young people: Gerald, played by Rob Benson with assured understanding and was good to watch; Nancy, played by Grace Heap and Ruby Birtle, the maid, by Molly Hirst, were both a delight to see performing in a very professional manner. The part of Dyson played by Ben Lewis gave a measured performance and all will no doubt become regulars, if available, where parts calls for younger characters.

The regulars ( those with more experience) were all as good as one would expect from thespians with such a wide range under their collective belts. However, mention must be made of Steve Pollard who played Ormonroyd, the heavy drinking photographer. He brought touches of pure mirth to the stage and was greatly aided by Benita Finch as Lotte. Kath Bolton playing the eavesdropping servant Mrs Northrop, was one of the cast who drew special praise from the audience.
