FASTEN your seat belts and enjoy the ride as Burneside Amateur Theatrical Society gear up for another exceptional all-singing, all-dancing extravaganza.

John Dodds, Helen Townson and Ron Milnes reprise their roles of Mr Bumble, Tara Croft and Mr Fudge in this year's BATS summer showstopper.

With a fresh storyline, the inventive show - which follows on from last year's Mr Bumble's Bewitching Bookshop - is another jovial jaunt that features songs from Little Shop of Horrors, Beauty and the Beast, Mama Mia, Matilda and many more.

Created and written by Sue Cook, who also produces, Mr Bumble’s Musical Mystery tells of Mr Fudge, who has disappeared and locked the portal to the Land of Pure Imagination behind him. Mr Bumble and Tara must find another portal then start a journey through the land to find him, coming across magical characters and musicals along their tuneful way.

The question is - will there be a happy ending where friends are reunited and the bookstore goes on to continued success?

Running at The Bryce from Wednesday, August 30 until Saturday, September 2, the five star show stars one of BATS largest Showstopper’s adult singing and dancing cast ever and a junior group that is growing in confidence and ability with each show.

Sue says Mr Bumble promises to be the biggest showstopper spectacular yet: "The process of devising a show, with original script, takes a lot of time and John Dodds has risen to the challenge, hanging his script around the show songs to create a coherent and funny journey through a carefully crafted world of imagination.

"It wasn’t an easy task. The script needed to be revised and edited to make the marriage between script and song harmonious.

"One thing that has really delighted me this year is the quality of not just the singers, but also the dancers. Viki Buckley has certainly raised the standard and, with input from Carly Pearson and the multi-talented Clare Walker, has produced some impressive numbers that the cast has risen to challenge of performing.

"Not forgetting Helen Fothergill, who has done another amazing job with the BATS juniors."

The amazing Mr Bumble made his successful stage debut with his 'bewitching bookshop' in 2016.

With the backstage crew working away on lighting, costumes and stage sets, the next chapter is certainly shaping up to be another production to remember.

Performances start at 7.30pm.

Tickets are available on the BATS website www.batsburneside.co.uk or by telephone on 07792-777213.
