FREE try-dives are being offered by Kendal and Lakes Sub-Aqua Club to coincide with the BBC2 series Britain’s Secret Seas.

The dives will be held at Lakes Leisure, Kendal, on Tuesday, June 7, and the club hopes the publicity for the TV series, presented by honorary club member Paul Rose from Windermere, will re-awaken interest in diving.

Spokesman and diving officer Gary Davis said: “This is an intriguing and fascinating series and we believe it will spark a lot of interest in scuba diving among people who have never tried the sport before, or among people who have learned to dive abroad but who have never even considered diving at home.”

Britain’s Secret Seas is a four-part documentary which explores sections of Britain’s coastline, looking at marine life from basking sharks, to shipwrecks visited by BSAC divers.

Mr Davis said: “The BSAC provides an ideal, safe and progressive environment in which to learn the sport along with the right club framework to enjoy diving.

We hope to welcome new members of all ages when we resume pool training in September.”

The Kendal club meets every Tuesday at Lakes Leisure from 8.30pm from September to April.
