ST BARNABAS Church at Great Strickland, near Penrith, hosts a fundraising exhibition of paintings by Beetham born and bred artist, Heather James, next weekend, June 15/16 (11am-5pm).

The former Kendal High School student - whose large scale flower paintings and drawings are inspired by the Vanitas still life tradition - is a graduate of Central St Martins, London.

Monies raised go to church funds as well as a percentage to Macmillan nurses.
