LEVENS Choir celebrates the centenary of the birth of one of the greatest modern composers with a concert at St Thomas’s Church, Kendal, on Friday, November 22 (7.30pm).

Conductor Ian Jones and choir perform Benjamin Britten’s Christ’s Nativity – a cycle of five poems on the Christmas theme – along with shorter works by Britten and four songs for double choir by Robert Schumann, a composer whom Britten much admired. The choir will be joined by cellist Jeremy Lamburn and Paul Greenhalgh on piano.
