THE Dukes has its very own ‘Christmas Carol’ who has penned the music for the Lancaster theatre’s new adaptation of the Dickens classic.

Musical director, Carol Donaldson has composed the catchy tunes for A Christmas Carol, which runs until Saturday (January 4).

It is the second time she has worked on a Dukes Christmas show with scriptwriter Debbie Oates who, as well as adapting the story, has also written the lyrics to the songs that are peppered throughout the play.

The pair have worked together on several productions since they met at Manchester Youth Theatre 17 years ago and subsequently discovered they were neighbours.

“I’m always excited when Debbie first sends me her lyrics,” explained Carol. “She decides on the mood of the songs and what function they have in the play and then I send her some music and we take it from there.”
