GREEN Door artists open the New Year with a group exhibition at the Castle Dairy plus an exciting new creative partnership with Kendal Museum.

The popular South Lakeland art collective will be the museum’s artists in residence beginning the residency with a Winter Exhibition.

Meanwhile, the group exhibition at the Castle Dairy features up to 50 pieces of work from more than 25 selected Green Door artists, including Maggie Berkowitz, Evelyn Sinclair, Ann Marie Foster, Donna Campbell, Colin Reynolds, Sue David, Ray Green, Lisa Harrison, Joyce Eldred, Sue David, and Karen Lester. Work also includes paintings from Jill Pemberton who paints on canvas exploring the temporal space with colour, movement and texture, and drypoint prints from Theresa Taylor who develops her ideas from plant structures and organic materials. There are paintings from recent member John Birch who aims to create pieces of work that are bright, colourful and vibrant, and Mrs Beeton Recycled from Elizabeth Shorrock, who uses recycled maps and guide books as a basis for books and wall pieces.

“This is a very exciting time for Green Door with exhibitions planned throughout 2014 and into 2015,” explained Green Door administrator, Janice Benson. “The exhibition at the Castle Dairy is a showcase of work from long-standing and new members; it’s a great way to end 2013. We’re thrilled to be working with Kendal Museum in the New Year on a range of exhibitions reflecting the scope of our members’ work, including new works inspired by items in the museum’s collection.”

“We’ll also have our largest ever art trail in April with 58 artists taking part. To set the scene, the Brewhouse at Burgundys in Kendal and Yew Tree Barn at High Newton will host exhibitions from participating artists in the run up to the trail.”

The Castle Dairy exhibition runs until January 20 with the Winter Exhibition at Kendal Museum on show until March 28.
