WARWICKSHIRE singer/songwriter Wes Finch is making a trip up to Ambleside to bring his brand of bluesy folk to Zeffirellis.

In 1989 Wes Finch was given an acoustic guitar by a man who was the spitting image of Woody Guthrie but had decided to give up playing.

That’s the guitar on which Wes learned to play, took travelling around the world with him and still uses at shows to this day.

Wes and The Dirty Band have toured extensively throughout the UK, Europe and Australia, supporting the likes of Billy Bragg, Eliza Carthy and Newton Faulkner.

His songs are a mixture of folk, rock, blues, country, jazz and swing and his live shows vary from gentle melodic beginnings to raucous and sweaty climaxes.

Wes’ songs are all original compositions and represent a modern approach to folk and blues, which draws on influences such as Tom Waits, Neil Young and Loudon Wainwright III.

He released his third independently produced studio album ‘Mayflower’ in 2012 - a highly anticipated follow-up to the well received and reviewed ‘Asthill Grove’.

Wes Finch plays at Zeffirellis on January 17.
