ONE of the original YouTube superstars is headlining Kendal’s Brewery Arts Centre this month.

Guitar virtuoso Andy McKee shot to worldwide prominence in 2006 when his technically astounding ‘Drifting’ was lauded by Digg and YouTube users.

His videos have received over 100 million views and once had him placed first, second and third in the YouTube 'most viewed' list.

Despite being entirely self-taught, Andy’s technically ground-breaking versions of original and cover songs have made him a household name in numerous countries.

His unique multi layering approach means that whilst he alone plucks, strums, and taps the strings and body, he creates the illusion of a full band accompaniment.

Born, raised and still living in Kansas, Andy’s online success has led the former 'metal-head' turned acoustic finger-picking maestro to establish an incredible career, releasing a trove of critically acclaimed albums and headlining around 200 gigs a year.

Andy McKee plays at The Brewery Arts Centre, Kendal, on March 22.
