LEVENS Choir turns to one of the finest sacred masterpieces of the early 20th Century for its Easter concerts - Rachmaninov’s Vespers All Night Vigil, a 15-movement work for unaccompanied choir, which represents the culmination of a long tradition of Russian choral music.

Joining conductor Ian Jones and the Levens choristers for the Sunday, April 13 (7.30pm) concert at St George’s Church, Kendal, will be cellist Peter Freyhan who will perform Bach’s unaccompanied Suite no 3 in C Major. The choir repeats the programme at Kirkby Lonsdale’s St Mary’s Church the following Tuesday, April 15 (7.30pm).
