PRINTFEST, the UK’s artist-led printmaking festival, makes a welcome return to Kendal’s Brewery Arts Centre for a new exhibition.

Exhibiting artists for Winter Edition 2014 - which runs in the Brewery's Sugar Store Gallery - were selected from artists taking part in the Printfest weekend in May 2014. They include former Printmakers of the Year, Anja Percival and Kelly Stewart, alongside Cumbrian artists Beverley White and Alan Stones.

Work will also be exhibited by Joanna Bourne, voted Printmakers’ Printmaker by her peers at Printfest 2014, Jude Freeman, Ruth Green, Moira McTague, Jane Sampson and Rosemary Vanns. There will also be the opportunity to see some of the prints which have been commissioned by Printfest from recent Printmakers of the Year.

Printfest director Janice Benson said they were delighted to be working with Richard Foster and his team at the Brewery once again.

"Winter Edition shows work from some of the UK’s most respected printmakers and it’s a rare opportunity for visitors to see them under one roof away from the Printfest weekend," added Janice.

"This has been a busy year for us with an exhibition in Newcastle over the summer and it’s great to end the year back in Cumbria at one of our favourite galleries.”

Printfest was set up in 2001 by printmakers Judy Evans and Ronkey Bullard.

The much awaited Printfest weekend takes place annually on the early May Bank Holiday in Ulverston along with an art trail, workshops and demonstrations. Although the event is its grand, yearly showcase, Printfest activities are now spread far and wide throughout the year, including additional workshops and exhibitions.

The event has grown significantly in recent years, with a steady increase in visitor numbers and in the value of artwork sold. It offers a rare opportunity for the best of the nation's printmakers to gather under one roof, share practice and learn from each other.

The Brewery exhibition runs until Saturday, January 17.
